HIS CHILD

The joy of Jesus Christ my Savior is My source of strength from day to day. He leads beside the still clear waters, Restores my soul, shows me His way, And though I weep, am tired or weary, I will proclaim His faithfulness. Rejoicing comes new in the morning, Hallelujah, my heart is blessed. His marvelous grace beyond all measure Delivered me from sin and shame. He sent His Light and Truth to guide me, A new creation! Praise His name! The gracious God’s my heavenly Father, I am His child, called by His Name. His boundless love endures forever, Through all eternity the same. The comfort of God’s Holy Spirit Brought healing to my fainting soul. I lift my hands to sing His praises, Oh Lord, my God, I’ve been made whole. With oil of joy He does anoint me, And makes my cup to overflow. Sweet fellowship is mine forever, A perfect peace in Him I know. Karin Ristau

IF DOGS COULD TALK

INVITED

God loves the unlovely, gives worth the unworthy, The folks who don’t matter to anyone. It’s for people like that and for sinners like me God sent to the cross His only Son. God loves the self-righteous, the angry, the jealous, Even those who are perfect in their very own eyes. There’s no one on earth who is righteous, no one! Don’t for one second believe Satan’s lies! Christ shouted His love as He stretched out His arms Embracing each one who would come! Unlovely, unworthy, but saved by His Grace! It’s at the cross that new life has begun. Bag-ladies and bums are invited to dine At the banquet feast at the foot of His Throne. We may be surprised, who’ll be all dressed in white Clothed in His righteousness, now His very own!. Yes, there’s a place at the table for you and for me With all our loved ones who have gone on before. Oh my friend, come! You have been invited! Please make the choice to walk through The Door. SPRING CLEANING

O God, my life is really an awful mess! Is there any hope for someone like me? I need you to come and transform this heart, I heard you can do that, and that Your help is free! My clothes are tattered and torn, filthy rags, I’ve buried and hidden so much o’er the years The closet is stuffed to the ceiling with things Old baggage, old pain, and all kinds of fears. O God, it is time to take out the trash To once and for all clean this heart of mine! That thick layer of pride should be dusted away And my windows are clouded with jealousy grime. Much idle talk’s been swept under the rug, There are cobwebs of anger everywhere, Greasy streaks of criticism mark up the walls And selfishness clutters each room here and there. I’ve tried real hard to clean it myself, But I simply can’t! I’m tired, I’m weary, I’m worn. “The blood of the Lamb will cleanse every stain, Just give me your heart, child, and you’ll be reborn!” Now that was an offer I did not refuse! I opened m...

MEMORIES OF MOM

Image
With the first anniversary of mom's homegoing almost upon us,  it is natural that we should remember her at this time! Mom was born August 17th, 1919 She died, slipping away peacefully to be with Jesus, May 17th, 2010 All of us are thankful for a praying mother and grandmother. This was mom's passport picture  when the family immigrated to Canada  from Germany in October of 1954. There's no date on the photo but I believe my parents to be in their middle forties. When mom and dad lived in the independent apartments right next to where I worked, mom spent thousands of volunteer hours for the organization. She made crafts and then sold them all profit going to the Care Centre. I believe mom was in her early to  mid eighties here. Family was together when mom turned 85. Dad had already passed away six years prior. Soon after that mom had to be admitted to the nursing home. She loved family celebrations! We always made sure to serve her favorite meal K...

SPRINGTIME

Image
When it's springtime on the prairies And the tulips are in bloom When the robins sing a new song And young lovers start to spoon When the trees unfold their blossoms And the gentle breezes blow When it's springtime on the prairies, All my love to you I'll show. Many signs that spring is staying Are the warmer days, cold nights. Yes, the sun now gets up sooner We can save electric lights. Pussy willows by the roadside Some days rain; yet some days snow. Time to do the big spring cleaning; Soon there’ll be green grass to mow. Time for planting pretty flowers Peas and carrots in a row. Time to water and to nourish So that everything can grow. All the beauty of Creation Once again bursts forth in bloom! Just enjoy the days of springtime, Summer will come far to soon!
