So thankful for my hubby! He is a gentle, kind, and caring person! He has the most loving smile and a dry sense of humor. He prefers to be serious though! It's so wonderful to marry one's best friend and be blessed to journey through this life together. God has given us two daughters and one son; two sons-in-law and one daughter-in-law; and 9 grand next generation!
Hubby and I were in the pastorate for several years before he accepted the call to become Professor of Old Testament here in Edmonton where he taught for 30 years before retiring. We've done a fair bit of traveling together and have truly enjoyed our lives. A few months back he started having some symptoms that pointed to one possible diagnosis. A few weeks ago the neurologist gave the diagnosis of Parkinson's. Never a complainer or whiner, my sweetheart is taking this well. Shall we take only the good from the Lord and not also that what we don't like? He had already decided to stop driving a while back, realizing there was something not right. It is a huge challenge that lies before us, but with the Lord's help we'll do the best we can. We're so thankful for strength, for love, for joy each and every new day! Now with our move to an independent living manor, where help can be accessed should we need it, we are again realizing how our gracious heavenly Father leads, opens doors, and walks beside us!

What a precious photo of you two. Keeping you both in my prayers during this time of adjustment. My father had PD and I became very familiar with making the adjustments to make life very full for him. I pray that you like and trust your Dr. and I know that great strides are being made in the treatment.
THis is not an easy road you are on,but I sense that you are strongly leaning on the Lord. Together, you will make it through and bring glory to God.
You have been blessed, both by having a wonderful husband and in the way God has blessed your marriage. Your good attitude is a great asset in this time of change. I'll be praying for you both. I love the picture of you two!
Hi Karin, I see I somehow missed your last post, don't know how. Blogger often will drop someone from my sidebar, then mysteriously put them back in a few days. And what an important post it was to miss! I have just gotten caught up. Moving at our age is no fun and hard, I hope you will have lots of help? Is your new place nice, how is the size compared to where you are living now? So when is the big move? Well, I guess you know most of the people there already? I am so very sorry to hear about your husband's diagnosis, he sounds so much like my Phil. But we know the Lord is controlling it all and it is in his hands. We live by prayer and faith. I will be praying for both of you, Karin, for this move and for your husband's health.
What an inspiring post, Karin. God bless you both as you take on this new challenge.
Praying the Lord will sustain you both as you walk down this new road together Karin...
With tears in my eyes reading your post. You are an example for us as a younger couple. Beautiful photo and I taste your love.
I wish you a great experience of our gracious heavenly Father. Yes, He leads, he opens doors, and walks beside you! And that's a great comfort - we never walk alone and on days we fall, He pick us up and He carries us in His arms
Oh Sweetie, I am so sorry to read your news about your husband... I knew that you were considering moving --but hadn't heard about your hubby... I am so very very sorry..
You both are strong and have a strong faith. God will help you all get through this together. They do a lot more for Parkinson's than they used to...
May God Bless You BOTH. Keeping you all in my prayers. Love that photo of the two of you... SO special!!! AND I love the family picture in the blog above also.. We all do have so much to be thankful for, don't we?
HUGS and Prayers,
Betsy
Many prayers for you and your husband as you begin your journey down this unexpected road. It was an encouragement that you made this announcement under a THANKSGIVING heading. Doesn't scripture command us to give thanks in everything? Yes it does! And you are doing it in such a touching way.
Many blessings,
K.
