RANDOM DOZEN

Found this at Betty's - A glimpse into midlife and decided to answer the questions too - even though Wednesday is almost over, lol!!  Thanks Betty!

1. What insect are you most afraid of? Feel free to post a picture.
Wasps/hornets/yellow jackets  - I move very slowly AWAY to allow them their space!  No need to overreact and make it worse!

2. What is the greenest/most organic thing about you or that you do?
Hubby and I come from the ‘old country’ where after the war we lived ‘green’ before it became fashionable! We still turn off the lights when we leave a room. We re-purpose and re-use whatever we can.  We don't waste water -  take showers – short ones. We eat red meat probably once in two weeks. We buy mostly local produce.  We donate to MCC Thrift stores. We buy machine washable clothes – only a few that need dry cleaning, especially since hubby retired and doesn’t wear fancy suits anymore on a daily basis! We de-clutter regularly.  We’ve downsized, living in a small two bedroom apartment. Just to name a few!

3. Tell me about a recurring dream that haunts you.
I very seldom can recall my pleasant dreams and do not have any dreams that haunt me.  I’m blessed!

4. Have you ever missed a flight? What were the circumstances?
Seeing as hubby and I are always early, very mindful not to keep others waiting, we have never run into that.  While on our anniversary trip to Europe years ago – the bus that was taking us to Heathrow Airport to catch our connecting flight ALMOST didn’t make it because it broke down.  I can’t even recall how we all finally got transferred there!  Probably the flight was late in taking off!

5. What do you consider your best feature?
I’ve been told that physically my best feature is my eyes and my smile!  They fairly sparkle when I meet friends and loved ones. Only one time has the way I look at friends been hugely misunderstood and caused me untold embarrassment.  But embarrassment is nothing one dies from – so I live to keep the sparkle and twinkle in my eyes complete with my smile! And yes, I don’t like holding on to grudges! Then I couldn’t smile!

6. What was the last concert you went to?
Would you believe that it’s quite a few years since I’ve attended a concert?  The Hunter family, a fundraising event sponsored by our Shepherd’s Caring Friends. They are really going places, and are a Canadian group. Excellent singing!

7. Describe the most embarrassing church moment you ever experienced.
While I was not the one embarrassed, I did witness this moment. In a children’s Christmas play, the prompter whispered the lines to the actor who had forgotten his lines, getting a little louder with each prompt.  The actor just stood there and didn’t get it.  The prompter finally opened the door of the inn in which he was hiding and chucked the script at him.  Yikes!

8. Are you a whistler, hummer or singer?
Depending on the situation, I can whistle or hum a happy tune. I don't sing in the shower,  or while I work - my dear sweet sister does that!  I’ve led Hymn Sing for our residents singing the leading voice, but I’m most at home singing harmony with someone who can carry a tune.  Over the years I’ve sung duets with quite a number of folks. With some my voice blended better than with others and we got lovely encouragement from the listeners.  If you sing to the glory of God it doesn’t have to be perfect to be a blessing!

9. George Washington Carver said, "I love to think of nature as an unlimited broadcasting station, through which God speaks to us every hour, if we will only tune in." What is God saying to you through nature today, or this very minute?
Just had two thunderstorms within the last two hours – thunder, sunshine, more thunder! God is control and majestic in His Creation. An awesome God!

10. On September, 1, 1752, the Liberty Bell arrived in Philadelphia. What memorable event will take place in your life on September 1, 2010?
Today has been a great day but nothing newsworthy!

11. Taco Bell or the Liberty Bell? (You must choose.)
We don’t have Liberty Bell up here that I’m aware – so I’ll choose Taco Bell! But there are better tacos and taco salad right here at home!!

12. Do you believe men and women can have purely platonic friendships?
Oh yes!  Your marriage is sacred before God!  A friend is not a spouse, though a spouse can be one’s best friend.  However, there is room in one’s life for many valued, respected and loving friendships.  I feel that there can definitely be a godly commitment to friendship between men and women especially if Christ is at the center of the friendship - unless of course, the spouse is insecure and feels threatened, never wishing to be a part of the friendship.  Let God chose your friends for you - that way you'll both grow! Everyone should know that they are loved, respected and appreciated!

What a good way this is for bloggers to get to know each other!! Spiders for me, next are hornets and wasps! I love to sing around the house, and can only whistle by breathing inward instead of outward anymore!! A backwards whistle!! One icy, snowy morning, I entered the church vestibule, slipped, and fell on my behind!! Everyone looked!! Today Sept. 1 was memorable because I just stood at the bedside of another friend whose knee replacement surgery did not go well. Spent the evening praying with her and feeding her chicken soup. And I need this surgery, yikes!!

Interesting post my friend but I don't have any interesting answers for you....I'm not even afraid of spiders but I don't care for snakes. I love music and I find myself humming along, today was very uneventful for me really but I welcome September, Fall is my favorite season.....:-)Hugs

A Meme - a real Meme - I just learned what that is, even though I'd participated in the past. Interesting answers, no time right now to send in mine.
