Saw a blog recently called Woman of Wisdom hosted by Queenmothermamaw which reminded me of a poem I wrote many years ago. What caught my eye was that this lady is from Kentucky and we had the pleasure of living in KY for a year and half during hubby's sabbatical.
A very special time in our lives.
This poem was written more than 15 years ago
for a special women's celebration
at which I was the guest speaker.
For all of you who need this reminder today -
here it is!
W o W
You’re a woman of worth
Loved perfectly by the Lord!
Be a woman of wisdom,
Your life fully based on His Word,
Be a woman of wealth,
As you store up eternal treasure!
Be a woman of warmth
Giving and loving
In bountiful measure.
In valleys, as a woman of weeping
Discover His wellspring of joy;
With praises and singing and prayer
The works of the devil destroy.
Be a woman of wonder;
How God is working
In and through you!
Let your wisdom and wealth ,
Bring glory to Him in all that you do.
Be a woman of worship,
He alone is worthy of praise!
In everything giving thanks always
Your voice of true freedom raise.
Let your sweet, winning smile,
Your warm, welcome heart
Show others what life’s all about!
Don’t be a woman of worries,
Or fears, frustrations and doubt.
It is through Christ
You CAN do all things,
His strength is yours
Each new day on this earth!
Let no one persuade you
To think otherwise!
You are a woman of worth!

Great poem. You know who needs it? Teenage girls. The world blasts them and their value to pieces, robbing them of confidence, self worth, and a sense of God's Spirit within them, so it can exploit them. Cheryl and I have worked with a number of wonderful young ladies (and this even has appication in many cases to young men) who had so much going for them, but they couldn't or wouldn't see. The world, through various means of exploitation and manipulations, had gotten inside them, hurt them, and then controlled them. It makes me angry.
This is a great line:
"Let no one persuade you
To think otherwise!
You are a woman of worth!"
You might see if you can get this published in a Christian journal.

Karen, I was so pleased to find your comment on my site. Thanks for visiting. I am a retired RN and have been involved in pastoral care also through my association with The Sisters of Charity of Nazareth. Did some psych nursing in a Christian home health agency. I am always pleased to find a new blog friend. I am not an invalid but have had to slow down a lot of my physical activities and see I recognize a ministry opportunity online. I loved the poem. Have 4 daughters and 2 sons and tried to convey that idea to them through role modeling. Blessings

P.S. Kiren, notice you left your comment on my QMM site. Did you visit WOMANOFWISDOM? You can find it on my recommend list.

Thank you both for your visit and your great comments. It's encouraging to know there are blog friends who read the things I put on here. Bless you! Yes, QMM I did visit both your blogs. Very nice!
Great poem, Karin... I think all women should read this --because I remember that there were times that I didn't feel like a woman of worth (working fulltime, taking care of babies, etc. etc.etc.)...
That's something that all of us need to post on your refrigerators ---or somewhere in our home where we can see if OFTEN.
Thanks!
Hugs,
Betsy
Great reminder. In all the busyness we sometimes forget our worth,
Blessings,Ruth
Although I'm not a woman, I think the poem is wonderful. It should be presented to every young woman to remind them of their worth as a child of God.
It's fun to come back to my blog and see more comments. Thank you all for taking the time! Much appreciated!
Karin, is it ok if I print this poem out. It is so good. I need to read this often.

Joy, you are welcome to print this poem out for yourself - just keep my name with it. I feel honored if my poems are used! I know you'll keep my name with it. Thanks!!
Karin,
I've never told you this, I don't think, but I'm NOT a poetry person - not even close. I almost won't even look at something if I can tell by looking that it's poetry. (Except in the Scripture, but even there I'm more comfortable with other literary forms.) I know it's not very lady-like of me to be so literal-minded - but I haven't had much success in changing it. I think it may be a permanent defect.
I said all that to tell you that I'm really blessed by your poems. They carry wonderful truths and encouragements and are also very lovely.
