REAL MINISTRY

To say a special 'thank you'
to the many pastors
who provide worship services for our seniors,
I printed this poem on lovely cardstock
and made it into a bookmark.
I hosted a program,
which included a delicious lunch
lovingly prepared by our own kitchen staff.

People in conflict;
Going through grief;
People in pain
Just seeking relief.
People in heartbreak;
Deep sorrow; despair
People in sin
Need love and care.

People need leaders
Truth teaching too.
Widows and orphans
God sent them YOU.
People need Scripture
That is not all
People need Jesus!
You’ve heard God’s call!

Comforting words
Compassionate tears
Praying hands
Listening ears
Encouraging touch
Affectionate heart
Joyful smile
There’s a good start.

Infusion of hope,
Drying their tears.
Touching their heart
With laughter and cheers.
Listening is loving.
Caring is giving.
Singing a new song!
That’s ministry living.

People need people
And you’re people too.
Shepherd’s Care is thrilled
To have pastors like you!
Your servant heart
Does real ministry!
Great your reward
In eternity!

Hey, thanks for the comment on my post yesterday at SCL. It's great having readers add to the conversation.

Know that my blog is a safe place to talk about life's more trivial matters. That's what we do best over there. Everyone needs a break from the serious, right? Keep the comments coming!

What a lovely gesture- and thanks for your comment on my blog too. Ministry can be hard work sometimes- but knowing that there are others supporting us in prayer makes a real difference.
