DESTRUCTION BEFORE CONSTRUCTION

Image
The old fountain with the bridge over it - has been demolished. It had seen better days and served us well.  Now, wood was rotting and it was not safe for wheelchair crossings. If the old fountain could have talked........ it would have thanked the two Freds for cleaning it every spring.... it kept the secret of lover's conversations sitting on the nearby swing... it delighted in grandchildren's laughter who came to visit their loved ones..... it thanked the trees for gently covering it with their leaves for the winter rest...... it did occasionally get green with....algae sometimes its pipes needed extra cleaning..... and it wasn't too thrilled that boys will be boys and some did take a quick tinkle when they thought no one was looking and nature called! I watched from the 4th story balcony as the old was demolished to make way for the new and I took a few snapshots! Our apartment doesn't face this garden; we're on the opposite side...

99 QUESTIONS

Someone had called this passage in JOB -  99 questions! There truly are so many I'm not sure I counted right. Every once in a while I read this again and again because, really, "Who do I think I am?" GOD IS ASKING Who is this that obscures my plans  with words without knowledge? Where were you when I laid the earth's foundation? Who marked off its dimensions? Who stretched a measuring line across it? On what were its footings set,  or who laid its cornerstone -  while the morning stars sang together  and all the angels shouted for joy? Who shut up the sea behind doors  when it burst forth from the womb,  when I made the clouds its garment  and wrapped it in thick darkness,  when I fixed limits for it  and set its doors and bars in place,   when I said, ‘This far you may come and no farther;  here is where your proud waves halt’?  “Have you ever given orders to the ...

HEART - TREE

Image
Every Wednesday afternoon I drive past this tree  on my way to another site  where I do a hymn sing with our residents.    It's always the highlight of my week!!!  The residents here all share  the diagnosis of dementia -  there are many different types of this condition  as I'm sure you are aware.  The residents are different ages -  over 50 yrs. though, several different cultures,  and all have other health needs.  One thing I know is that their spirit responds wonderfully  to the love of God shown to them  by their family, friends  and our amazing care staff!   They LOVE the hymn sing  and are so grateful  when my volunteer pianist, Joy,  joins me in leading this weekly program.  Their favorite hymn?  Hands down - Jesus loves me this I know,  for the Bible tells me so!  One resident had been unresponsive  ...

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

Image
Forty-six years we have walked side by side, sharing a love that's amazing and true If I were to do it all over again, My sweetheart I know I'd surely pick you. You were God's choice for me from the start Our hearts were united to do His good will. So whether we live  on the highest of heights or valleys of illness and pain,  it is our desire to follow Him still! With all my love and one day at a time!

BING - O THOSE YUMMY CHERRIES!

Image
We love fruit - all kinds  but hubby's favorite are the Bing Cherries! It's that fabulous time of the year again. Now if the kids had been around we would probably have put these on as earrings, then washed them, and then eaten them! That's a fun memory from my childhood. We only had red cherries - we only got to have Bing cherries when we  came to Canada.  I also love the Queen Anne cherries from Washington - they must be  coming soon! Look at all the doubles and triples!  I know, I know - quit playing with your food Karin! Sorry, but they're all gone now!  YUM!!
